When I was a freshman in college I watched the film Gua Sha Treatment for the first time， now I am a junior student and I e back to review the movie from a multicultural aspect， I have many different feelings after watching the film again.
At the beginning of the film， XuDatong is given an award and later he delivers a speech. What makes me impressed most is in his speech he says “one day I will bee one of you， a truly successful American， today this award proved that America is a true land of opportunity and I am the living proof of that.” At that moment Xu thinks he has realized his American Dream totally with his lovingly wife and adorable son. However， I think it is ironical that to make a speech like that and I assume it is made on purpose to hind a clue for the story’s development. How many non-American people have such a beautiful American dream? One of my classmate studies in American now and before he went aboard he told me his American dream is he can stand at the top of the New York. To be honest， I also dream that one day I can get the Green Card living there happily and successfully maybe working at the Wall Street. When Xu gets the award he thinks he entirely melted in the melting pot neglecting the multicultural obs
truct， later the plot goes against the way he thinks. And later Quinlan asked Xu ‘why you be the scapegoat of your father?’ Xu answers ‘because he is Chinese.’ Then maybe Xu knows that there is always a wide gap between Chinese and American cultures.
The second scene is Xu hit his son Denis because Denis hit the son of xu’s boss， at the middle of the film xu tells his boss that he hit his own son is only to show his respect to his boss John Quinlan， that time Quinlan feels puzzled “what a Chinese logic”， yes， American can never understand such a logic full of Chinese characteristic， because they respect everyone including the children， they won’t beat a child to please the boss， and there is no such a conception of degree between employee and employer， they feel everyone is equal， which is quite different from china.
Connected to the second scene， the third difference I want to analyze is the care for the children. In America， people pay more attention to the right of children which can be seen from the law—leaving children alone at home is illegal， while in China it is so mon that almost everyone may experience such loneliness. And Children Welfare Agency does work in America which shows the importance Americans attach to children’s right. What’s more， I remember a line ‘No one won the case， especially the child.’ In my opinion， it also manifests the universal concern from the American public to the children.
The fourth aspect is following the procedure， in the film， more than there times， the people focus on the rule， the law， the procedure. At the Christmas Eve Xu wants to return back to his home pretending as a Santa Claus， what a pity， the security recognizes him and persuades ‘you are always a good tenement， never causes troubles for me.’ And another scene is at the end of the film ， the judge says ‘I have to follow the procedure.’ However， in China people always have to ask for a favor to do something， and later you have to pay back the favor ，for myself， I prefer the American style， strict to the procedure.
The fifth and the last point is the humors， Quinlan says ‘you can’t fall， your health security is the pany paid.’ ‘Datong， wele home， maybe next time， you can e from the front door.’ ‘dady， why you e from the window’ ‘ because we don’t have a chimney.’ I really adore this distinguished American humor， especially in dangerous situations， which is quite rare in China.

刚刚看完一部励志电影《永不放弃》。宫本二也主演，仓泽英雄，一个从小就失去爸爸的残疾少年。
取名为英雄，那是因为他作为婴儿的时候，大脑受到损伤，但他仍捡回一条命，而被他妈妈取名为“英雄”。英雄拥有了人生最大的财富——生命，却成了残疾人。早期大脑的损伤，导致他运动出现了障碍，语言也有缺陷。（励志名言）因此，出现在屏幕上的他，走路便是一拐一拐的，说起话来，嘴巴都歪到一边去了。另一只手一直如印度舞蹈手势般五指张开搁在后边。对于仓泽英雄来说，他跟常人一样的仅是一只手，一只脚。
在他22岁，将要从商业专科学校毕业那会，他找到了自己人生的第一份工作——亮晶晶牌净水器的上门推销员。仓泽英雄在第一次面试的时候，因为他的长相，他残疾的身体和他那一说话就歪到一边去的嘴巴而被轰了出来。在妈妈的鼓励下，他推门而进，向老板力荐自己。后来，老板答应给他试用期，却给他划了一个正常人都推销不了商品的区域，明摆着让他知难而退。然而，上天眷恋仓则英雄，巧合下，推销出了两个净水器。

Andy got her new job in Runway fashion magazine. And her personal life was begun to be hanged by a thread because of her busy work. Her boss Miranda was famous for being
unpredictable and perfectionist. Andy was Miranda’s second assistant. She must complete nearly impossible tasks with constant trepidation of Miranda’s wrath and be Miranda’s beck and call 24/7. Andy worked hard and got promotion then. But in order to complete her work, she neglected her lover, her friends and her families. She almost lost her boyfriend Nate. Luckily, she found that friends and families are more important than my job before everything was too late to retrieve. So, she quitted the job restart with families and friends’ support. I think Andy did right choice at last, because families and friends are more important than work.
Though we try to balance work and family, we have to admit that imbalance is sometimes inevitable. We can balance the two by arranging our time reasonably and working effectively. Also, we should talk to our families and friends often, trying for their understanding and support. Finally, we need to realize that we work hard for better lives. But without families and friends, we won’t be happy anymore, and nobody can share our success.

There is a thread that weaves its way through the landscape of life connecting, influencing, and defining all. This movie is certainly thought-provoking, one cannot watch it without feeling either privileged to have become part of the fabric, or like a fly on the wall - seeing, yet unable to influence or guide.
There is almost a sense of frustration at ones inability to be no more than an observer in this movie since it compels you to want to shout in warning, gasp in shock, cry in sorrow, and hold in comfort. "Crash" is definitely not a movie to use as a venue to escape life for a couple of hours, but it is a movie that certainly makes you take a second and third look at who you are within yourself. The actors are surprising not only for their depth of performance, but also because they do not play characters you think you know.
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes drama, action, comedic relief, or just an appreciation for a well-thought out movie.

This term, I have taken an elective course on western culture and enjoy movies and airwaves, and watched many films, such as “Gua Sha”， “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”， “A Christmas Carol”，” Legally Blonde”， “The Proposal”，“Friends”，“Gone with the Wind”。 But what impresses me most is the film “Gua Sha”， which English name is “The Treatment”。
Gua Sha is a movie about the difference between Chinese and American culture. The story happens in a Chinese family who lives in American. It mainly related the hero Xu Datong, who is a Chinese, had struggled for 8 years, tried hard to assimilate into American culture, and he as a video games designer in St. Louis had a great success and got his boss's approval and friendship. He and his wife, Jian Ning, son, Dennis, led a happy life in America. He also brought his father from china to live here together.
One day, Dennis was stomachache, the grandpa used the Chinese traditional therapy to help him to scrapping, named Gua Sha, which leaves bright red marks on the skin. And then, once Dennis had an accident and went to the hospital, the doctor saw that the scar on his back, he doubts if the children was abused at home, so he called the American children protection center, so it causes a lawsuit of child abuse. Thereby, this happy family happened a series of unfortunate.
At the hearing, whatever Xu Datong explained to the judge and the plaintiff about Gua Sha, the Americans always misunderstood. The opposing lawyer distorted the Chinese classics” Xi You Ji”， and his boss point out he had hit his son on the victory meeting, these all made Datong angry very much, scolding on the spot. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. Because of the cultural difference, the father faces misunderstanding in the eyes of American. Thus, it made Datong break up families, and later he resigned, lost his friend and job.
Later his father found the truth, went to explain that was him to Gua Sha for Dennis, not Datong, to Datong’s first counsel for the defense, John, along, and decided to leave America. At the airport, the old man want to saw his grandson, so Datong went to the welfare- house secretly to bring Dennis to the airport to see his grandpa off. On their way back, the police found Datong took Dennis, Datong and Dennis played jokes with the followed up police cars……
John went to Chinese personally to experience the Chinese traditional treatment--“Gua Sha”， and hurried back to America to tell the accuser and the judge about his experience in it, and ask them to annul Datong’s result of sentence.
In the film’s last, Datong for the sake of seeing his son on Christmas Eve, he climbed up the pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives in Santa Claus dress. At last, John sent thejudiciaries rescind durance in time. And Datong climbed into the house, stayed with his families together again. The end is perfect. “Gua Sha” is known by the American law. The family gets together at last. But the cultural difference between countries leaves us thought-provoking. In US, this is a story that repeats itself many times in the area where many oriental immigrants’ lives and all of these are due to simple misunderstanding between cultures.
The film “Gua Sha” is based on a Chinese traditional treatment which is not well-known by most foreigners. Indeed, Gua Sha is a treatment in traditional oriental medicine, In Asia it is usually done with a coin, Chinese soup spoon, slice of water buffalo horn, or even a slice of ginger. It need repeatedly scrape some acupoint in the patient's skin to treat the patient’s illness. It’s very useful treatment for patient.
Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between Chinese Culture and Western Culture. In American law, parents shouldn’t leave child alone and can’t ill-treat their own children. If they break this law, parent may be taken to the police station, or what’s worse, their children will be separated from them. However, the family in the film gets in this trouble. These laws are good for children’s growing-up, but the rules don’t work in China. In China, parents have duties to look after their kids, including beat them the moment children don’t obey their words. In American, it’s illegal, children are protected by laws.
What’s more, the Americans don’t understand the Chinese traditional culture, often misinterpret, and even ignore it, so it results in many unfair for Chinese.
The film has deep impression to me. I’m not only proud of the extensive and profound Chinese culture, but also moved for the Chinese original ethical concept. In the movie, it embodied that Datong was so filial to his father everywhere, for example, for father get a green card, he admitted that was him to Gua Sha for his son, asked his wife not to tell the thing about Dennis’s law case to the old man to avoid his worried…… And the heart between Datong and Jian Ning was very deep, though they quarreled many times for Dennis’s case. The husband’s wohlwollen to his wife, he chose to separate to let his wife to stay with Dennis, and the wife’s care for the family, do the housework after work, look after the old and the young in the family……The most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son to climb a pipe to the ninth floor, despite his danger. Datong, the grandpa and Jian Ning, their love to Dennis, was deeply moved to everyone. The film reflects the kind to each other and loves each other in a traditional Chinese family, giving expression to the great of Chinese spirit.

我觉得小嗝嗝很勇敢、很善良。他用他的善良之心把凶猛的夜煞驯服成温顺的龙，并帮助了维京人。要是没有残暴的龙大王，人是可以和龙做朋友的，是可以和平共处的。
不管是人还是动物只要有善良之心，就不会有战争存在。

Hotel Rwanda is a film about a man. It was based on a real story of a man who saved 1268 people’s lives in a madness genocidal, which happened in Rwanda, 1994. The film was directed by Terry George, 2004. The main actor Don Cheadle is not handsome but just an ordinary man. You probably will even not recognize him when you happen to meet him on the street. He acted a hero based on a true story, a man who was as simple as he is, Paul Rusesabagina. Paul is a hero, a real man, while a hero and a real man doesn’t always need to be handsome or attractive in the appearance. There are two nations in Rwanda, hutu and tutsi. Paul is a hutu manager working for a 4 stars hotel on town. The hutu army planed a genocidal to clear out all the tutsi people in ruwanda. The tutsi people were suffering a madness blood bath. Over 800,000 people had been killed within 100 days. Paul has a tutsi wife, in order to protect his wife, children and other tutsis; he took them to hide in the hotel Rwanda. There are many white people from all over the world lived in this hotel so the hotel is the safest place in Rwanda to hide. There are 80 UN soldiers in Rwanda but only 4 guarded in the hotel and all of them are not allowed to shot. If we say that Paul just wanted to save his wife at the beginning, after recognized that there is no one would come to help the tutsis, Paul throw himself into the breach. He bribed the hutu general by wine and gold, used out every coin of his to purchase the refugees’ lives, ten, a hundred, 2 hundreds, 3 hundreds… more and more tutsi refugees flee to the hotel wishing to survive. To them, Paul is an angel who keeps a hope for those hopeless people in the calamity. His goodness his mercy is the key to be alive.
The hotel Rwanda is a dramatically and war film, ingeniously, there was almost no lens for slaughtering; however, the threatener of death was full filling with the whole movie. One of the tutsi asked Paul,
“Why they are so truculence?”
“ Hatred? Insanity? … I don’t know.”
The event is a humanitarianism disaster and Paul needs no reason to save the lives. When the world closed its eyes, he opened his arms. Facing a madness calamity and crazy crowds, the individual’s power is far from enough. However, Paul saved more than 1000 people’s lives. Paul Rusesabagina is a hero, a real man, an African Schinderler.
